Follow the road leading to the seaside resort of Emporios (is a little before the entrance to the medieval village of Pyrgi). Emporios is a picturesque small port, which has become famous because of the nearby seasides of Mavra Volia. At a short distance from the port, there are three successive bays with deep dark blue waters. Right behind us there are abrupt high hills. The black pebbles and wild scenery is a result of the volcanic activity of the distant past in the area. Swimming in Mavra Volia is an experience not to be missed!
Very close to Pyrgi and only nine kilometres from the village, near Emporios, is the beach of Vroulidia. It is the beach on the southern point of the island, with thick sand and small pebbles. Small though it is, it gives the impression of an exotic beach, because of the colours and the landscape.
Near Olympoi village is the Archaeological site and beach of Kato Fana. The bay was used in ancient years as a safe harbour. The area was named after the temple dedicated to Fanaios Apollon, which is also in the area. Archaeological evidence from the temple dates back to the 6th century B.C.

It is a secluded beach, mostly. Swimming there is a unique experience.
On the west of Chios you will find some of Chios most unique, secluded, and virgin beaches. Elida bay is one that stands out, and for good reason too. A magical location, a big closed bay, quiet and sheltered from winds, that lies 25 kilometres from town and five kilometres form Anavatos and Lithi respectively.
The rare beauty of the surrounding nature is stunning. Mountains surround the bay and the pine trees reach up to the seaside. The green blue cool waters and the all white pebbles of the beach offer a unique experience that no visitor should miss.
Didima beach, meaning the twins in Greek, consists of two small coves located close to the charming village of Mesta. It is located 32km southwest of Chios Town, a beach far away from the busy coasts of the island’ s center. The coves with the white pebbles and crystal waters look very much alike. The beach is completely unspoilt and secluded with steep cliffs surrounded by a natural landscape. The water quality and the secluded atmosphere captivate visitors. There are no tourist facilities near this beach and it is difficult to access with public transport.
Avlonia is located at the South part of the island, near Mesta village (about 5 Km in the south). It is a beautiful beach with thick sand and very small pebbles that spreads out to become one with the deep, crystal waters. North winds search the bay and therefore it’s better not to visit the beach when north winds set in.
This beach is on the west coastline of Chios. It is secluded and lonely, perfect for those who need to a calm day of relaxation.
Apothika beach located near the medieval village of Mesta. The beach consists of coarse sand and small pebbles at length as characterized by its crystal clear waters. Beloved of the locals, the store is known for its pristine beauty and thanks to its particular morphology, offers shelter from angry Aeolus background. The access here is relatively difficult since the road stops about 100 meters from the beach. Arm yourselves, then, with patience, water and a hat if you want to enjoy the beautiful waters. The good news: in the Apothika Bay will find many small beaches where you can enjoy more prive dives!
